DID YOU KNOW...
Formerly known as Southport East, Main Beach is now an upscale beachside suburb in Gold Coast City. Main Beach is located right at a narrow coastal dune, between the mouth of the Nerang River and the Pacific Ocean.
People living in Southport before used to relax on its eastern shores. Others even take a ferry across Broadwater only to surf on this beach. This particular part of Southport was considered the main beach because there were so many coastal recreational activities in the area. That was how the name Main Beach came to be, and the upscale beachside suburb was known as such ever since.
When the Jubilee Bridge opened in 1926, the surfing peaked in the area. Access improved and more holiday houses were built in Main Beach. During the late 1960s, the construction of the Sundale Bridge really opened up a subdivision pattern which was quite different in that area in Main Beach. The suburb came a long way from what it was in the past, from houses with an unstable population, to subdivisions of people calling Main Beach their home.
Pavilion 34 is one of the most famous places to visit in Main Beach. One of the reasons why people love to hang out in Pavilion 34 is because you can enjoy good food like Chikko rolls and pineapple fritters. Nostalgia hits as throwback photographs are seen in the casual beach cafe, giving everyone a look back to the Main Beach of old. A 1036 Gold Coast classic, the world-famous Southport Surf Club is right next to Pavilion 34. Those ideal spots are easy to spot since there’s a place for everyone in Main Beach.
The tree population in Main Beach ain’t much, they are mostly used for ornamental reasons, or to provide a good shade. In any case, when the people of Main Beach need tree-related services like tree pruning or tree removal, the go-to team should always be Tree Essence.
