This is what the view looks like when you are climbing a 35 metre tall Spotted Gum Tree. The owners of this residential property at Mudgeeraba on the Gold Coast, called us here at Tree Essence as they were concerned about the stability of the tree.
Upon inspection of the tree, we discovered a large basal cavity at the root base (buttress of the tree) which would most certainly cause structural instability. In time, with the inevitable strong winds and storms that frequent the area every year, there would be a high-risk factor to this Spotted Gum causing damage to property and most importantly injuring people and pets. Unfortunately, there was no other option but to undertake a tree removal as the weakness was at the very base of the tree.
The highly experienced team at Tree Essence began the task by dismantling the tree using rigging ropes and pullies, attaching the climbing line in at the highest point in the first instance. We commenced by taking away the lowest branches first and working our way up the tree, dismantling limb by limb. We then worked on the log section, blocking down the tree commencing from the top. All the chipping and processing was completed onsite.
