Tree Essence was called upon by a new client to access the state of this very neglected Phoenix Palm Tree at Southport. They had read our 5 star reviews and believed that they could trust us to undertake their Arborist works. They had previously been given some very poor advice and service and wanted to re-evaluate and have an action plan in place for the various vegetation that they have on their property. We are grateful that they chose us for this task.
You will see from the before and after photos that we shaped the Phoenix Palm back to its former glory. Yes, our clients are extremely happy for the team at Tree Essence to have undertaken the palm pruning and we will continue to maintain its structure and look for health and aesthetic reasons.
There are some essential key factors when pruning and maintaining your Phoenix Palms.
1. Don’t prune too many green fronds. Green fronds are essential in the palm photosynthesising and creating energy for itself
2. Prune excess dead material like old husks & seed pods. This is an attractant for pests & diseases and looks unsightly. They also harbor weed species trees, as birds often poo in them
3. Apply any fertilisation to the very top of the palm, the apical meristem. The apical is from where the palm will continue to grow from and is the heart of the palm. Damage to this could have a bearing on its health & vitality
