Getting your soil ready – The soil temperature can get very hot in Summer and this is an undesirable climate for Microorganisms. These Microorganisms aid in the health of your plants. If you have healthy soil you have healthy plants.
Ensure that you have good quality soil, mulch and add Seasol fertiliser if you wish. A good variety of mulch types will give you the best results for maintaining soil moisture content, providing a good food source for the Microorganisms in the soil, plus keeping your tree roots cooler in the warmer months. Spread the mulch no thicker than 100ml around your garden, otherwise you are reducing the amount of oxygen available to the tree roots.
A watering system – Install a watering system if you are time-poor. A regular watering program maintains the soil moisture content so the plants will flourish. As we know the weather can be very inconsistent.
